Treasure Box Art

K started this on her own, masha ALLAH. She coated the box 3 times, and added flowers felt and jewels on top of it. She said she plan to put her first falling tooth in it. So it's not just a treasure box, but also a keepsake.

This girl prefers to stand up than sitting down when doing things.

DC Zoo trip

On Spring Break last week, we got together with a few non homeschooling friends from the mosque and went to DC zoo. After 2 hours of trying to find parking, we finally made it in.

This is Baraka, a new mom at 26 with baby Kibibi. It was a mazing to see her with her newborn, how protective they are. It is also so sad to see that she has to constantly fight for her peace inside the small glass cage that she has to share with at least 5 other gorillas.

A and K acting like tourist, they were so excited to be there with the other children. I watched them interact with the other kids and glad to see that they are able to chose friends who behave nicely.

The panda exhibition were packed with people, since it is right by a restaurant, so we skipped the panda today, perhaps another day. Here, the girls are acting they are pandas trying to eat bamboo...

Although 3 months had past, baby Kibibi still is the spotlight of the zoo.

K wanted picture of her with the lineage of gorillas info. I cant remember where and when she got this factionation of the apes family, but I'm glad since I can connect it along the line with our Indonesia lapbook.

Mommy was to tired to do anything else after we are back home, but the girls are so excited and wanted to do arts and craft on zoo animals..I found a few animal stickers and they made a story on these animals. It's not done yet, we still have to do the Apes.

DC trip with Grandma

We had 10 days of fun with Grandma, she cook, baby-sit, and shop! Here we are in downtown DC.

Rocking Horse Art

We went to thrift store for a treasure hunt and found this rocking horse hanging decorative for less than a dollar. It was blue however, so we painted it with paint base as pictured.

A worked so hard on this an learned about coating and mixing color. At first she wanted to do a pinto horse, but when she saw her sister coloring her treasure box with pink, her favourite color, she decided she wanted a pink horse too.

Daddy has a new rules in the house, no boys (except him) is to allowed to play in their room.. So this is what the horse sign for...;o)

After about 4 coat of white and fuschia, she finally decide it is the right pink. She loves to write with swirls and so I let her trace the word there and decorate it with jewels. Now, I have to hang this on their bedroom door.

Blueberry Cheesecake

K and I found a very tempting picture of blueberry cheesecake from the Living magazine and decided to give it a try, regarless that it was already 7pm only an hour away from bedtime..lol. K was so determined to have it done, she cracked all 4 eggs, mixed the cream cheese in it (it's pretty hard to do for 5yo fingers) and crushed the cookie crumbs. Subhannallah, she reminded Daddy to turned off the oven when the timer beeped ( I had to leave and got more cream cheese). Afterwards, we sprinkled it with frozen blueberries...yummm!! not bad for a 5 yo!!

Nutrition Art

This week we are learning about nutrition. A made this junk food art and another of the healthy food pyramid. I cant find the last one, must be somewhere in the house, just have to find it...sigh..It's been almost 3 months without fast food, we've been eating at home or taking homemade food out and have picnics. Subhannallah, these kids are an eating machine but yet so lean and skinny...alhamdullilah..
